Positive Effects of XJ-13

XJ-13 fosters a sense of happiness and relaxation before nailing the user with a strong cerebral stone. Reflective of its higher THC content, XJ-13 is frequently cited as a morning stoner’s dream. The strain’s potency lingers throughout your day but is influenced by its sativa genetics enough to keep a consumer alert and active.

Due to the strain’s strong sativa properties, wallflowers and shy stoners use the strain to help lubricate social situations and stimulate conversation. It makes a great companion to marijuana smoking games!

Negative Effects of XJ-13

Consumers prone to paranoia should be careful with XJ-13. Its burst of cerebral energy can shift into unpleasant racing thoughts if consumed in to high a dose. Dry mouth is a concern, and you should consider bringing eyedrops to any XJ-13 sampling session.

XJ-13

Lineage of XJ-13

Within the cannabis community, many unconfirmed rumors still circulate about the marijuana masterminds behind the XJ-13 cross. All we are sure of is the strain’s genetics. It’s generally accepted that the strain is a cross between the Jack Herer and G-13 strains. XJ-13’s parents are well-known among sativa fans in the cannabis community.

Jack Herer, named after the late cannabis activist, boasts THC levels between 18 and 23 percent along with a killer creative buzz. G-13, though darker in coloring, contributes to XJ-13’s slight indica body effects and heavily coated, resinous buds. Together, these two parents strains cultivate XJ-13’s flavor and more balanced high. Some industry professionals cite that the strain first appeared in Oaksterdam University’s 2011 clone catalog under a different name.

Growing XJ-13

XJ-13 is difficult to obtain, as it’s a clone-only strain. If you do manage to get your hands on some, you’ll find it can thrive both in and outdoors with a flowering time of eight to nine weeks. However, it does need an outdoor climate drier and warmer than average if it’s to reach its potential. This strain is recommended for experienced growers, due to its somewhat complex trimming needs.

Genetics

Aka: XJ-13. Cannabis Genetics: Jack Herer and G13 Haze strains.

Jack Herer

Sativa

THC: 23%, CBN: 1%

Jack Herer is easily one of the best-known strains in America. Originating in California, this sativa honors the memory of Jack Herer the man, a longtime local cannabis activist and medical marijuana user. It’s not quite as strong as its popularity might suggest, but the high is heady and distinctive. Jack Herer has a unique loamy smell and taste with hints of pine and trees. The sativa high is happy, bubbly, and euphoric, spurring energy and creativity. Jack Herer is ideal for errands and other daytime activities. This strain is effective for patients with mental or neurological disorders, including bipolar disorder, anxiety, migraines, PTSD, and ADHD. Dry mouth and red eyes are common, along with occasional dizziness and paranoia. Jack Herer is popular throughout the United States, but, like many other strains, it’s most popular in the West.

Jack Herer’s flowers are not particularly visually impressive: pale to medium green leaves form in densely-packed buds that are more elongated that rounded. The trichome count is high, making this a very sticky plant to handle. What Jack Herer lacks in visual appeal, though, it makes up for in scent. Cured properly, the flowers have a deep floral bouquet with hints of orange and lemon zest. Breaking open the dense buds shows off more of the citrus scent along with a peppery kick. When burnt, the flowers give off a surprisingly clean and herbal scent, similar to sage. The very smooth and easy smoke tastes similarly herbal. Although not overwhelmingly pungent, Jack Herer leaves behind a lingering spicy-floral odor giving the general impression of potpourri.

G13 Haze

This hybrid of G13 has been crossed with Haze, creating a strain that provides uplifting sensations alongside heavy-hitting body effects. G13 was bred for maximum potency and renowned for its medical utility, and it’s definitely not recommended for beginners.

Grow information

For female seeds, Barney’s recommends Sea of Green (SOG) and Screen of Green (ScrOG) growing methods. G13 Haze grows to a medium height both indoors and outdoors, yielding dense, tightly-structured, heavily resinous buds in a 65-75 day flowering time.

Both regular and feminized seeds are available from Barney’s Farm.
